Pets … they do a body good!

Hello, animal-enthusiasts!  We all know how happy animals can make us make us feel but did you know that owning a pet can actually improve your physical health?  Studies suggest that having a pet in the home can reduce the likelihood of children developing related allergies and can strengthen the immune system overall.  It has also been proven that pet owners tend to have reduced blood pressure, cholesterol and triglyceride levels — all of which lower the risk for a heart attack. For those who have already experienced a heart attack, a dog or a cat can promote faster recovery rates.  Need more proof your pet can make you healthier?  Research reveals that like any pleasurable activity, playing with your animal can increase levels of serotonin and dopamine — nerve transmitters known to have pleasurable and calming properties.  Share these bits of knowledge with your friends and family so that they too can be inspired to spend more quality time with their four-legged companions
